Dr. Chuck Schubert,
Crossroad Health Center, Cincinnati, OH

Baby Examination

Whether he is examining a patient at Crossroad Health Center in an under-resourced community in downtown Cincinnati, or making rounds at Cincinnati's Children's Hospital, Dr. Chuck Schubert is part of a growing movement. He is one of several thousand Christian health professionals who see their medical careers as an opportunity to live out the gospel through health care to undeserved people.

In Dr. Schubert's words, "At the heart of the gospel is ‘good news to the poor'. God's heart is revealed when people who seek His Kingdom take action that brings good news to the poor. Some of that good news is displayed when I bring my service to the under-served via medical care.

"I am convicted about people in my city - my neighbors - who live in poverty in large part because they are held down by unjust economic and health systems. As those things are impacted by the Kingdom, it will deliver them out of poverty. That would be truly good news. So I challenge myself and ask "How am I working against those unjust structures in society that trap people in poverty?"

Choosing to practice medicine in a way that demonstrates compassionate justice to people who rarely get to experience that - to authentically express the love of Christ to those that live on the margins of society - that is what Chuck Schubert is about. That is what CCHF is about. Is that what you are about? If so, welcome to the movement.

About CCHF

CCHF - Christian Community Health Fellowship

“Christian Community Health Fellowship was founded in the late 1970’s by a group of young Christian doctors who started a health center in rural Mississippi. It quickly became a “network of friends” who were committed to live out the gospel through healthcare to the poor”. Thirty years later, CCHF continues to proclaim and uphold God’s mandate to bring health and wholeness among the poor, and to support those that serve these communities.

“CCHF is a nationwide network of health providers, administrators, teachers and students who are involved in providing health care to underserved communities, both rural and urban. CCHF produces a quarterly journal called Health and Development, and holds numerous events - including the annual CCHF Conference each May - designed to educate, assist and inspire our members to provide healthcare to the poor in a way that reflects the character and message of Christ.”

Our Mission

Our Mission

“50 to 75 million people in America live without basic healthcare. Many neighborhoods in our big cities have higher infant mortality rates than the 20 least developed countries in the world. These millions of uninsured and underserved people desperately need the kind of holistic care that Jesus brought in his earthly ministry: “…good news to the poor…recovery of sight to the blind…”

“CCHF is leading a movement of Christians to rise to this challenge by focusing on three areas:

  • Creating a support network of like-hearted Christian health professionals,
  • Reaching out to students with a call to practice true religion in their vocations, and
  • Providing technical support to providers and administrators who are resolved to do something great for the poor in the name of Christ.
